The innovative activities on Saba are grounded in the educational approach of FBE as formulated in the Central Policy, as well as in the Mission Statement of the SHS.
The central goals of FBE are to:
- Provide high-quality, uninterrupted, developmental education for all;
- Meet the individual needs of the students through differentiation;
- Offer integrated care for special needs students by continuous tracking of achievements and addressing learning and behavior issues;
- Offer a smooth transition to Secondary Education;
- Promote parental involvement.
The primary mission of the SHS is:
To empower each child intellectually, emotionally, socially, culturally, physically, and spiritually in an environment conducive to self-motivated learning.
Furthermore it is the mission of the SHS that:
The child will develop to his/her fullest potential as a contributing member of the community.
FBE is currently implemented up to grade 3 of Primary School. The FBE strategies allow the teachers to cater to the individual needs of the children. Children are taught in multilevel groups: they receive remedial help when needed, and they can accelerate when possible.
Throughout FBE, student levels are assessed by using different instruments. The programs we use are USA standardized.
